For all you hopeless romantics out there...this is for you. (Don't worry, I'm one too- you're not alone.) Sometimes we just need to live vicariously through fictional book characters that have a more successful love life than we do. It's ok. I think. Anyway, here are some romance novels that I enjoyed reading, and I hope you do too!
1. The Selection Series, by Kiera Cass
Ok, hands down Kiera Cass is one of the best romance authors I have ever read. The Selection series was recommended to me by my cousin, and I was immediately entranced. It's a little bit dystopian, a little bit fantasy, and a LOT of romance. So, pretty much one of the best book combinations ever. Her characters are easy to love, and the way she writes transports me into her world (which makes it kind of hard to put the book down). I seriously love this series, and pretty much all of her other books too! It's about a girl named America Singer, who gets entered into a contest competing for a crown, a prince's heart, and pretty much a fairy-tale life...one that she didn't even want in the first place. This series is full of twists and turns and jaw-dropping plot twists that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. By the time I finished these books, I was swooning. If you are a huge romance novel fan, this is what I would tell you- read these books!
“I hope you find someone you can't live without.I really do. And I hope you never have to know what it's like to have to try and live without them.”- The Selection
2. Cindy Ella, by Robin Palmer
This stand-alone novel is great for those of you who prefer more realistic-fiction type romace novels. I found this at some random library/bookstore place somwhere, along with Geek Charming, another novel by Robin Plamer. I don't think I was super into romance then, but I picked them up thinking I'd give them a try. I'm glad I did! It's kind of a modern Cinderella spin-off about prom season in LA...featuring a girl who hates prom. I definitely laughed out loud a few times when reading this. The book is cute and funny, and a good read during Valentine's Day (because of course, Cindy Ella gets a happily ever after!)
“All I want is a best friend whom I can't wait to kiss again.”-Cindy Ella
3. The Betrothed, by Kiera Cass
Yes, I know this is Kiera Cass again. But her writing is SO good!!! I read this book after the Selection Series, and it might've just been better...but it's hard to tell. It's about a girl named Hollis who earns the heart of the king, but when a mysterious stranger appears, she's not sure if the king's heart is the one she wants anymore.
Ok, so I just went on Goodreads to look at their summary of this book, and I went down a rabbit-hole of 1 star reviews. I don't get it. No offense to those of you who didn't like this book, but personally, I loved it. I read some of those reviews, so I might have to go back and read this book again, but I don't know what to say. I really loved it! It has been a while since I've read it though...
So, in conclustion, read this book or don't. My opinion is, amazing book and a completely unexpected ending, but if you do read these book, and hate it, let me know. I'm a bit confused and would love to have your feedback. I'll have to go read it again. There is a second one, called The Betrayed, which I haven't read yet, but for those of you who liked it and want more, go read it!
“The most valuable thing you can own is the assurance of your place in someone’s heart." -The Betrothed
That's all I have! I'll see y'all next month! Meanwhile, I have to go read The Betrothed again. Wish me luck.
